Best Replit Alternatives in 2026 (Plus Cheaper Hosting for Your App)

Short answer: For easier AI app building, try Lovable or Bolt.new. For full control of your code, use Claude Code or Codex CLI. For free coding in a browser, use GitHub Codespaces. To run an app or bot 24/7 for less, move it to a VPS: a Hostinger KVM 2 costs $7.03 a month, while a similar Replit server costs about $51 a month.

Replit lets you build, run and publish apps in one place. People look for a Replit alternative for 3 main reasons: the AI costs add up, keeping an app online all day costs more than they expected, or they want code they fully control. The best pick depends on your reason, so this list is grouped by need.

Prices were checked on each company’s own site on November 8, 2026. Check the price before you buy.

What Replit costs now

Replit’s pricing page lists 2 paid plans. Replit’s docs also mention a free Starter plan with a small Free Mode allowance.

Replit plan Price What you get
Core $20/mo, or $18/mo yearly Free Mode chat, $20 a month toward stronger AI models
Pro $100/mo, or $90/mo yearly More Free Mode, $100 a month toward the strongest models, up to 15 collaborators

When the credits run out, Replit charges pay-as-you-go rates or sells credit packs. Publishing your app is billed by usage on top of the plan.

Keeping an app online all day uses a Replit Reserved VM (a private server that never sleeps). Replit’s prices from its August 2026 price list, worked out for a full month (730 hours):

Replit Reserved VM Per hour About per month
0.5 vCPU, 2 GB memory $0.0208 $15.18
Dedicated 1 vCPU, 4 GB $0.0486 $35.48
Dedicated 2 vCPU, 8 GB $0.0694 $50.66

A Hostinger KVM 2 VPS also has 2 vCPU and 8 GB of memory. It costs $7.03 a month on a 24-month plan with our link, then renews at $14.99. More on that below.

Best for easier AI app building

These are the closest match to Replit Agent. You describe the app, the AI builds it, and the tool hosts it. They suit people who never want to see code.

Lovable

The most polished AI app builder for beginners. It’s great at good-looking apps with logins and a database. You can connect your project to GitHub (a free site that stores code), so you can move it later.

Bolt.new

Bolt.new builds full apps in your browser and hosts them. The free plan gives you 1 million AI tokens a month with a daily limit. Pro removes the daily limit, adds your own domain and removes Bolt’s branding.

Base44

Base44 sets up the database, logins and hosting for you. It’s good for internal tools and simple business apps.

Hostinger AI Builder

Hostinger’s AI builder (it used to be called Horizons) makes websites, online stores and simple web apps from a prompt. It’s far cheaper than the others because you pay once for 4 years, and hosting, a domain and email are included.

For a side-by-side of these builders over 4 years, see Hostinger Horizons vs Lovable, Base44 and Replit.

Best for real code you own

These tools write normal code files. You own every file and can run them anywhere. They take a little more setup than Replit, but there’s no lock-in.

Claude Code

Anthropic’s AI coding agent. It reads your whole project, writes code, runs it and fixes errors. It works in a terminal, in code editors and in the Claude desktop app.

Codex CLI

OpenAI’s AI coding agent for the terminal. You can install it right on a server and build your app where it will run. We wrote a step-by-step guide: Codex CLI: build an app and deploy it to a VPS.

Cursor

An AI code editor that runs on your computer. Cursor is now sold as part of the X Subscription, after SpaceX agreed to buy it in 2026.

Best free Replit alternative for coding in a browser

GitHub Codespaces

Codespaces gives you a full coding setup in your browser, like Replit’s editor. It’s good for learning, Python practice and school projects.

Cheaper hosting: move your Replit app to a VPS

Many people don’t need to stop building on Replit. They need cheaper hosting for an app or bot that runs all day, like a Discord bot, a website with a database, or an AI agent.

A VPS (a computer you rent that stays on all day) runs any of those for one fixed price. You can run several apps on one VPS too.

Option Memory Price a month Notes
Replit Reserved VM 8 GB About $50.66 Plus your Replit plan
Hostinger KVM 2 8 GB $7.03 for 24 months Renews at $14.99
Hostinger KVM 1 4 GB $5.19 for 24 months Renews at $11.99

How to move an app from Replit

  1. Connect your Replit project to GitHub. This saves a copy of your code you control.
  2. Get a VPS with Ubuntu on it.
  3. Have an AI agent set it up. Install Codex CLI or Claude Code on the server, then ask it to download your project from GitHub and run it. Our Codex CLI guide shows each step.
  4. Move your secrets. Copy your API keys from Replit’s Secrets into the server’s settings. Never put them in your code.
  5. Point your domain at the server.
